Trust me, I’m the sunscreen

Remarkable. I first heard this song some 5+ years ago on the radio. They played it on the radio about for a month and then it disappeared. I have no idea why or where it went but you must have a listen! As per usual you can download the mp3 at this link.

“WEAR SUNSCREEN!”

If I could offer you only one tip for the future, “sunscreen” would be it.

The long-term benefits of sunscreen have been proved by scientists,

whereas the rest of my advice has no basis more reliable than my own meandering experience.

I will dispense this advice NOW!

Enjoy the power and beauty of your youth.

Oh, never mind.

Is anything ever easy at first?

I was helping my mom around the yard today. The weather is finally beautiful.

She asked me to make a border around one of our gardens. I had to grab a shovel and bend over digging up a trench around the garden. Easy stuff, but after doing the circumference of the garden my lower back was in pain. Which prompted me to ponder about how rarely things come easy in life.

On our first attempt at something new, we are often greeted with discouragement because we encounter pain, fatigue and failure.  A lot of the time we get discouraged and don’t try to improve. In reality of course all it takes is time.

HG Wells – If you fell down yesterday, stand up today.

Song of the day: Gym Class Heroes – Cupids Chokehold

Linkin Park – What I’ve done

Pretty deep video. For a higher quality version you can check out this link.

Roses and Bluejays

I’m a lot like my dad
I would have to say
He’s been wearing a beard ever since mum passed away
She would’a hated it
Inspiring, he likes to go to church
To hear the choir sing ‘Roses and Bluejays’
Winter comes, game over
He’s in the driveway removing snow with a flamethrower
Drives a hard bargain
Knows how to get the deals
Spring fever hits, he needs a new set of wheels
Every year it never fails
Roaming around in his hometown beach
Combing ‘Roses and Bluejays’
I’m a lot like my father
He knows he should go to work
But sometimes he doesn’t bother
Reads books of every sort
Gets all the news he needs from the weather report
The door stays open a few days and closes
What’s more important than Bluejays and Roses?

Son of a gun
The old man is something else
In addition to being a bull-fighter and magician
He’s a lazy river, Slow moving train
Future hall-of-famer, playing through the pain
He’s a Grizzly Bear
And do you know one time he even saw a UFO?
My dad’s favorite things are Roses and Bluejays
I would say we’re the same, in more than a few ways

Full of beans and big ideas
‘Cause I can’t sleep
I’m not sure why he is
Wide awake and off to the races
Out of gas and lost in space
So,
Full of beans and big ideas
‘Cause I can’t sleep
I’m not sure why he is
Wide awake and off to the races
Out of gas and lost in space

The lyrics are by Buck 65. Not sure if you’ve heard his music before but it is oddly entertaining. The songs are mostly spoken word set to a background melody. The words are his focus. He has another song you might enjoy, there are links to both below.

Underwear goes inside your pants

Why is marijuana not legal? Why is marijuana not legal? It’s a natural plant that grows in the dirt. Do you know what’s not natural? 80 year old dudes with hard-ons. That’s not natural. But we got pills for that. We’re dedicating all our medical resources to keeping the old guys erect, but we’re putting people in jail for something that grows in the dirt? You know we have more prescription drugs now. Every commercial that comes on TV is a prescription drug ad. I can’t watch TV for four minutes without thinking I have five serious diseases. Like: “Do you ever wake up tired in the morning?” Oh my god I have this, write this down. Whatever it is, I have it. Half the time I don’t even know what the commercial is: people running in fields or flying kites or swimming in the ocean. I’m like that is the greatest disease ever. How do you get that? That disease comes with a hot chick and a puppy.

The schools now: It is all about self-esteem in the schools now. Build the kids’ self-esteem, make them feel good about themselves. If everybody grows up with high self-esteem, who is going to dance in our strip clubs? What’s going to happen to our porno industry? These women don’t just grown on trees. It takes lots of drunk dads missing dance recitals before you decide to blow a goat on the internet for fifty bucks. And if that disappears, where does that leave me on a Friday night with my new high speed connection?

Fantasy World

Men live in a fantasy world. I know this because I am one, and I actually receive my mail there.

Scott Adams

Funny yet true…

Let’s talk about music

ace_of_base_-_da_capo-front.jpg

I know you won’t believe me but today three Ace of Base cds fell from the sky, into my DVD drive, and copied themselves on my harddrive. So naturally I’ve spent some time listening to them. You see, Ace of Base and I go back a few years.

When I was 7/8/9 (can’t remember which) years old, my family and I spent a few weeks on the Black Sea. We stayed in these awesome little houses close to the beaches. We were withing walking distance of a night club too, at which they would play Ace of Base songs almost every night. By the end of our stay there Ace of Base and I had become one.

So now you can imagine what kind of memories floated up when I turned on the music today!

It’s a beautiful life oh oh oh
